This is a South American electric eel from a fish merchant in Guangdong, China. Due to the global pet trade, electric eels can be seen in many countries. But humans have not been able to artificially breed electric eels. In other words, every electric eel you see in every aquarium in the world can only come from the muddy water of the Amazon River Basin. In their natural environment, electric eels use high voltage electricity for hunting and defense. Those electric eels still emit electric currents on the way out of their homeland, but these electric currents are futilely dissipated in the freighter's container.

A highly sensitive sensor is placed near the fish tank, which can capture the tiny currents released by the electric eel during its life activities and convert them into sound signals for play. Through these sounds, people can recall and imagine the journey that the electric eel is forced to embark on...

这是一条从广东鱼商手中得到的南美电鳗。由于全球宠物贸易的兴盛，在很多国家和地区都可以见到电鳗。人类至今没有掌握电鳗的人工繁育技术，也就是说，你见到的每一只电鳗，都来自亚马逊河流域浑浊的泥水中。那些背井离乡的电鳗仍会释放电流，然而这些电流大多在货轮的集装箱中徒劳的消散了。

我在鱼缸附近放置着高灵敏度的传感器，可以捕捉电鳗在生命活动中释放的微小电流，并转换成声音信号进行播放。通过这些声音，人们可以回忆、想象电鳗被迫踏上的旅程……
