    Tale : Shield and Ants

For most people, their earliest thoughts about war might come from watching battles between ants during their childhood. Nowadays, wars are becoming more and more frequent, and human life is as fragile as that of ants. This is a BZS-75-1 bulletproof shield that the Ukrainian military used on the early Kharkiv battlefield during the Russian invasion of Ukraine. Bullet pierced it, leaving dreadful bullet hole and scorch marks. It has been a long time, and I don't know whether the shield's former user is safe now.

I've always been contemplating, looking through the bullet holes, to imagine whether the world inside and outside the shield is truly so different.

In this installation, a circular frame made of twigs, steel wires, and other materials passes through bullet hole.On these frames are raised a colony of black weaver ants, which become part of the war tale.Black weaver ants are a species adept at constructing nests using silk. Throughout the exhibition, they will gradually fill the bullet hole with silk and debris.
